SHAKTI – A National Movement for Women, was established in Kochi (Kerala) in 2003, inspired by VijnanaBharati, a Swadeshi Science Movement, with the motto ‘Science and Technology for Social Harmony’. SHAKTI aims to unite the women of India for the social, intellectual, cultural, and economic development of women and Bharat. By utilizing Science and Technology as a tool, SHAKTI embodies the sacred concept of 'Ardhanareeshwara', recognizing the complementary roles of men and women in national progress and development.
